Welcome to Globaïa

services

Globaïa is specialized in designing rigorous, innovative and visually attractive educational products coming from a wide range of scientific domains, covering the Universe, the Earth, the Biosphere and Humanity. Our productions aim to highlight the great environmental and social issues of our time. In this regard, we are part of the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development.

RESEARCH. Our expertise in researching and synthesizing contents is best shown in the quality of the data presented in each of our productions. Through extensive scientific literature reviews and dialogues with authors-specialists, we present original and scientifically accurate information, ideas and concepts to general publics.

CREATION. Our graphic design skills are bound to our sensibility and to the sense of awe inspired by the magnificence of our world. Throughout the creation process, we are concerned to make a clear and coherent message designed to please the eye as well as the heart.

COMMUNICATION. The ultimate goal of our efforts is to raise awareness and to educate. Our fascination for the world as a whole is contagious and it translates through an ever increasing array of visual communication strategies.

■ Development, research and synthesis of contents.
■ Illustration, map design, schematization, print design, course training and state-of-the-art PowerPoint-type presentations.
■ Development of learning strategies and narrations.

Biodiversity   CONFERENCE | Earth, the Living Planet. This presentation is based on hundreds of scientific papers, reports and books describing the current biodiversity crisis. It draws a planetary portrait of the unfolding phenomenon, while placing it into a geological and anthropological perspective. The history of life, destruction of habitats, ocean acidification, world amphibian decline, mass extinctions, human ecological footprint, protected areas and scenarios for the future are among the covered subjects in this conference.

Climate   CONFERENCE | The Feverish Planet. This presentation reports the most up-to-date data and understanding on global warming—past changes, current evolution and forecasts. Its describes the deep causes and mechanisms of the megaphenomenon. Observed impacts are described. Polar thaw, retreating glaciers, sea-level rise, severe droughts, impacts on ecosystems, thermohaline circulation, heat waves, renewable energy, greenhouse gaze and big emitters, threshold effects and tipping points are among the subjects covered in this conference.

Human   CONFERENCE | Being Human on Earth. This presentation goes at the heart of the human journey, from prehistory to today's civilization. It presents the different steps through which societies established their relation with the environment over the ages. It's a wide overview of our specie's cultures throughout the world, outlining why certain societies collapse and others manage to survive over time through transformations. The conference exposes the lessons of the past and what is going to be our future, according to current trends and complex systems studies.

WALL-E   CONFERENCE | Getting out the Axiom. This presentation has been designed for school children. The Anthropocene is the unofficial name that has been given to our time to describe the depth of humanity's ecological footprint on the biosphere. Disney-Pixar's feature film WALL•E (2008) might be the best educational tool created so far to reach children when it comes to talk about the environmental issues we commonly face today. This conference uses the main themes of the film to introduce the real-world challenges that have to be addressed, while giving a sense of hope about the future and wonder about how small and precious is our tiny planet in the vast empty space.
